Total Eclipse of the Sun

Hello, aerial enthusiasts! Get ready to mark your calendars and prepare your eclipse glasses because a spectacular celestial event is on the horizon. We’re talking about the upcoming solar eclipse, an awe-inspiring phenomenon that never fails to captivate audiences around the world, and how you can take in the spectacle from the cozy confines of a premier outdoor hotel like Onera Fredericksburg or Camp Comfort.

The forthcoming eclipse is particularly special because it is a Total Solar Eclipse. It’s set to occur on April 8, 2024, and promises to be an unforgettable spectacle for those located in the right spots. The path of totality runs through Mexico, entering the United States in Texas, and traveling through Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Small parts of Tennessee and Michigan will also experience the total solar eclipse. The eclipse will enter Canada in Southern Ontario, and continue through Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Cape Breton. Those outside this path can still enjoy a partial eclipse, which will be visible from a wider area. 

To safely enjoy the solar eclipse, it’s crucial to follow proper viewing practices. Never look directly at the sun without appropriate eye protection, as this can cause serious eye damage. Eclipse glasses are a must-have, and it’s important to ensure they meet safety standards. Alternatively, you can use a pinhole projector or other indirect viewing methods to safely observe the event. During totality, take a few seconds to observe the world around you. You may be able to see a 360 degree sunset. You may also be able to see some particularly bright stars or planets in the darkened sky. The air temperature will drop and often an eerie silence will settle around you.

We can’t think of a better way to catch a glimpse into the totality of our solar system than from the comfort of an outdoor hotel.
